More than 40 Local Self-Governments and 100 Civil Society Organisations Introduced to the Calls for Proposals for Socially Innovative Projects

  • Belgrade, 12 July 2018

During eight info sessions that took place in the last week of June and the first week of July 2018, 208 representatives of 42 Local Self-Governments and 110 Civil Society Organisations were introduced to the terms and conditions of two Calls for Proposals for Socially Innovative Projects announced by the Swiss PRO Programme.

An opportunity to obtain support worth 10,000 to 14,000 Euros that will be given to 25 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and technical assistance for improvement of local regulations for funding projects of public interest that will be granted to 10 Local Self-Governments (LSGs) caught the attention and interest of institutions and organisations offering support to vulnerable groups.

The info sessions taking place in Šabac, Užice, Kragujevac, Kraljevo, Smederevo, Zaječar, Vranje, and Niš provided the participants with detailed information and clarifications concerning the Calls for Proposals funded by the Government of Switzerland through the Swiss PRO Programme, with criteria for selection of Calls for Proposals being in the special focus of interest. While the civil sector expressed positive opinion on the thematic areas for the support of vulnerable groups and confirmed the need for implementation of innovative ideas that would assist vulnerable groups, the municipalities and the cities expressed a high level of interest for technical support for improvement of their own capacities and also welcomed the complete initiative.

As the Calls for Proposals attracted a number of associations dealing with different target groups (disabled persons, Roma population, vulnerable women and youth, etc.), numerous and diverse and quality project proposals concerning new ideas fit for community are expected by 3 August 2018, which is the deadline for applying.
