Call for Proposals – Support to Local Self-Governments for Establishment of Citizens’ Advisory Services

Become more responsible in a better approach to the rights of vulnerable groups through the establishment of a systematic mechanism of the Citizens’ Advice Services, which is in line with the newly adopted Draft Law on Free Legal Aid.

Do you meet the following requirements?

You are one of 99 cities and municipalities that can apply for Swiss PRO support, and belong to less developed municipal categories, i.e. II, III, and IV groups according to the degree of development, and you do not have an established unit for providing free legal aid.

The Citizens’ Advisory Services can be organised through:

  • Project engagement of a person holding faculty diploma in law
  • Partnership with a civil society organisation (minimum 2 years of existence) or a law office

Inter-municipal cooperation is encouraged.

The value of the grant is from USD 15,100 to US 18,875 per project.

Duration of projects: 18 months (3 months for preparatory activities, 15 months for providing advisory services to citizens)

About the Call

The total Call budget for grants to local governments is USD 226,500. This initiative is just one of the activities funded by the Government of Switzerland through the Swiss PRO development programme in order to improve the access of local vulnerable groups to their rights and needs by ensuring better policies and practices of social inclusion.

Selection of grantees will be done by evaluating and ranking the submitted project proposals.
